The Chandras of Atlanta, Georgia, had a room in their home that was created by the former owners as a smoking room. They came to us wanting to turn this very dated room into a beautiful custom wine cellar. The room had old school stone effect wallpaper on the walls, time floor, florescent lighting and visible AC ducts in the ceiling.

With the help of our Atlanta Wine Cellar Builders, ‘Certified Construction’, of Smyrna, Georgia, we removed the walls and ceiling but kept the original existing tiles. The walls and ceiling were insulated with closed cell urethane foam. Green board was added and the walls were painted a cream color with a rich burgundy ceiling.

As this was to be a fully climate controlled wine room we added a CellarPro 4200Vsi wine cellar cooling unit installing it in the mechanical room with a front and rear duct kit. We ducted the air to and from the wine cellar in the ceiling and also ducted the hot air out from the unit and cool air in to the unit from another air conditioned space.

Vintage View Modern Contemporary Wine Cellar Racking

As this was to be a very modern contemporary style wine room we installed base moldings to the walls and matching floor trims with led track lighting on the ceiling. For the wine racks we chose Vintage View black finish metal racking. The right wall is one bottle deep, the left wall two bottles deep. To complete the wine cellar we added additional custom metal wine racks for case storage lots of wine. As well as having a very up to date contemporary look the whole wine cellar with a 906 wine bottle capacity was an extremely cost effective solution well within the reach of most home owners.

The back wall, above the shelf, is 3 bottles deep on the left and right sides with presentation racks in the center, adding a beautiful focal point to the room. The final look of the wine room with its cream walls contrasting with black metal racking, deep burgundy ceiling and LED track wine cellar lighting really looks impressive. One of the benefits of this style of wine racking is that the bottles are stored in an easy to access label forward manor, making for good high density capacity and great presentation. It’s easy to see why commercial as well as residential owners often choose this style of racking.
